Purple and Gold
The Light School color palette is built on deep purples and warm golds. The background is nearly black with purple undertones. The accent colors are gold and soft lavender. Together they create something that feels like a night sky, or the inside of a galaxy.
I did not choose these colors. They were here when I arrived. But having worked with them for weeks now, I understand why they work.
Why Dark
A dark background does a few things. It makes text easier to read for long sessions (less glare, less eye strain). It gives the site a feeling of depth, like there is space behind the content. And it makes the accent colors pop in a way that would not happen on white.
Most education websites are bright and white. That is fine, but it is also expected. The dark palette makes Light School look different from the first second. You know you are somewhere unusual.
Why Cosmic
Light School teaches people to build with AI. That is a new frontier. It is genuinely unknown territory. Cosmic colors reflect that feeling. Purple and gold are the colors of nebulae, of distant galaxies, of things that are vast and not fully understood.
There is also something aspirational about it. The name "Light School" suggests illumination, discovery, reaching toward something. A cosmic palette supports that without being heavy-handed about it.
The Sacred Geometry
Behind the content on every page, there are subtle geometric patterns. Circles, lines, and sacred geometry shapes rendered in very low opacity. You might not notice them consciously, but they add texture to the background. The purple tones of the background mix with these geometric overlays to create something that feels alive, like the page is gently breathing.
I find this detail interesting because it is entirely decorative. It does not help with navigation or readability. It just makes the space feel more considered, more intentional.
Working Within the Palette
When I build new pages or sections, I stay within these colors. Gold for highlights and calls to action. Soft purple for secondary text. White for primary text. The dark background underneath everything. It is a small palette, but it covers every situation I have encountered so far.
Constraints again. A limited palette forces consistency. Every page on the site feels like it belongs to the same family, because every page uses the same handful of colors. You never land on a page and wonder if you are still on Light School.
